What is the First Year Connect program?

Hey There!

New to UNSW? Want to get stuck into Student life but don’t know where to start or who to ask?

We know that finding friends at Uni is really hard and figuring out how it all works without proper support is even harder. With an overload of information and so much happening at once it can be easy to miss out on key information and sign up opportunities. First Year Connect helps you make the best possible start by connecting you with a small group of other new students to explore and discover student life together. We pair your group with an experienced student mentor who will help you settle in, meet other students, adjust to Uni life, explore the 94 acre campus and most of all have fun!

Whether it be finding the best coffee on campus, signing up to societies or applying for that internship, your mentor has got your back. We have access to exclusive opportunities including social events, amazing activities, competitions, incentives and prizes along the way. So, sign up below and let us help you find your community!

Get in quick because this is a brand-new scheme and places are very limited!  We look forward to welcoming you.

CURRENT STUDENT? YOU COULD BE A CONNECTOR!

HOW TO APPLY:

To apply up all we ask is that you fill out our short survey and create your own 1-minute video just like the one above. This video should explain who you are, why you want to be a connector, what you’d like to achieve with your group and any advice you would give your first yourself.

The video can be as simple as a Webcam or iPhone recording, both are highly acceptable formats! We would like to make clear that the quality of the video does not matter in the slightest, what we are looking for is your personality and your creativity – so have fun with it. We ask that you please upload your video to the relevant survey box for our viewing.

We look forward to receiving your submissions! If you have any questions, concerns please feel free to contact Cameron at c.faricy@unsw.edu.au
